Current Management Problem at Work

Well I currently work in a small insurance agency, it is small but it's quite busy. As most of you may know the current stock market is pretty fun these days - goes down 500 points then comes back up another 500 points. So my boss has been so busy these days trying to "play" the market. Yes this is an insurance agency, and the boss is trading stocks. I see quite many problems in this office, and 1 of them is "lack of management". My boss does not really care what the employees are doing - whether we are surfing the web, playing video games or watching a movie. For example, we are running out of spring water and he is the one who supposed to order, but he didn't; we are running out of toners and he did not even notice. I believe if these problems go on, I probably need to start looking for a new job in another 3 to 6 months. But I guess my boss is a lucky guy because he got all the hard working employees. Stay tuned, I will keep you guys updated...

I do not think your boss is being a bad manager, rather he just has a different way of managing. In fact we are used to the uptight managers who watch the workers closely. Only there are some managers who believe that they should detach themselves and give the workers space and make them feel trusted by the boss and given more freedom and power.

Personally I prefer bosses who do not seat on top of your head and watch you work. For instance I would love to have your job, I would have been very productive.
With a boss like that who treats his workers with respect, I tend to work harder to not to deceive him and deliver what I am expected to.
